Getting to Singapore

Pictured; Changi Airport Singapore

Singapore started out life as a trading port, setup by the British it quickly became a place where many traders and travelers arrived on a once primitive island.

Today Singapore is a thriving metropolis where thousands of people pass through each day. Singapore's Changi Airport is one of the largest in Asia and is often rated in the top 5 of international airports.

With Singapore being a major stopover point for the Europe to Australasia route, flights in and out of Singapore are plentiful and can also be cheap. Singapore has established a healthy tourist industry and is also a major departing point for cruise ships traveling to Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

Singapore is connected to Malaysia by a causeway and because of this trains and buses run into Malaysia and beyond to Thailand, a bus trip to Kuala Lumpur can take around 8 hours so this trip may be better left to a plane. A popular tourist trip into Malaysia is a bus trip to the historic town of Melaka on the Straits of Malacca, several bus companies run tourist trips into Malaysia and all are easily booked while you are in Singapore.
