Ukoy Shrimp Fritters

ukoy Filipino shrimp patties

Ukoy, or Filipino shrimp patties, are a beloved street food known for their crispy exterior and tender shrimp-filled interior.

This dish captures the essence of Filipino cuisine with its blend of fresh shrimp, crunchy bean sprouts, and savory tofu, all bound together in a light, crispy batter. Served with a tangy dipping sauce, Ukoy is perfect as an appetizer or a main dish. The contrast of textures and flavors makes it a delightful treat for any occasion.

Our Ukoy recipe stays true to tradition while incorporating modern twists for added flavor and texture. The batter, made from a mix of plain flour, corn flour, and baking powder, gives these patties their signature crunch. Fresh shrimp, bean sprouts, tofu, and papaya are carefully layered into the batter, then fried until golden brown. Paired with a zesty dipping sauce featuring vinegar, garlic, ginger, and spring onions, these Ukoy patties are a delicious way to experience authentic Filipino flavors at home.
