- 500 gram minced beef
- 2 tablespoons miso paste (red or white)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sake
- 1 tablespoon mirin
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 onion
- 1 carrot (chopped)
- 1 cup mushrooms (sliced)
- 1 tablespoon chili paste (optional for extra kick)
- 2 spring onions
- seasame seeds (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together the miso paste, soy sauce, sake, mirin, and sugar (or honey). Set aside.
- Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the minced beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned and cooked through (about 4-5 minutes).
- Add the minced garlic and chopped onion to the pan with the beef. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until the onion becomes soft and fragrant.
- Add the grated or finely chopped carrot and sliced mushroom to the beef mixture. Stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables soften.
- Pour the miso sauce and optional chili paste if using over the beef and vegetables. Stir well to coat everything evenly, and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes to let the flavours meld.
