Located centrally on the large Honshu island of Japan, Tokyo is Japan's capital city and home to Japan's Emperor. Tokyo is also home to over 12 million people making Tokyo the largest city in Japan.

Many people claim that Tokyo is an expensive place to visit, but this is somewhat of a myth as a holiday in Tokyo can be quite affordable. Tokyo's transport system is one of the best in the world, its subways and trains are reasonably priced and fairly easy to use. There are over 1000 stations in the Tokyo area that transport the Tokyo citizens to and from work and to the many entertainment districts around Tokyo.

There is plenty to see and do in Tokyo for the budget minded as well, many of the national monuments or museums have free or cheap entry as well as some of the high tech displays put on at the offices of companies like Toyota, Sony and Panasonic. A walk around the streets of places like Akihabara (the electronics' district),  Odaiba (the entertainment district) or Ginza (high fashion district) is always full of interesting sights.
