Sambal gadang (Beef with Hot Red Peppers)
 

Mix the peppers, lemon juice, turmeric, paprika garlic and shrimp paste together.

Bring the water to the boil and add spice, simmer.

In a wok add some oil and brown the stewing steak in small batches. Once brown add to the water along with potatoes.

Simmer for about 30 minutes until the meat and potato is tender and the water has evaporated. 

Stir gently as you do not want to crush the potato.

This dish can be served either hot or cold.
